WinHill & Hurst Clough 26-01-08

Yesterday Irwin and I headed up WinHill, we met in Thornhill and went down the footpath to the railway, the last wooded section was a Class 1 Sloppenfest, with back wheels weaving all over the path. We then went up to the moorland single track and had two good runs down there, fortunately the strong wind was behind us.

I rode the root section below the steps, while Irwin took pictures, then we swapped over for the top section of Parkin Clough. I was pleased with my flash which could light Irwin up from the other side of the gully, 8-10 metres away.

Later on we went out to Hurst Clough which wasn’t as wet as expected, only the run-in on the first straight was covered in water. We did a few runs and took some pictures, which I was fairly pleased with.

Hurst Clough was good, not that wet it may only be a short Downhill but it is still very fun. And with the surface being more bumpy than last year the technicality has increased a little. The colors in the top picture DSCF5147 looks nice, very green and natural.

Yeah the colours have been brightened a little, but aren’t much different from the original, the main difference is the increased shadows.

I think hurstclough is changing constantly because of the amount of vehicles that go up there which actually makes it quite fun, it the same with the clough as well. Both of them get churned up by the moterbikes and 4×4’s

The main problem with Hurst Clough is its lengh or lack of. When it drys out a bit more than you can ride down from the very top but when it is wet the top section isnt very good.

Okay, best place would be build a line after the old table top jump. Just make sure you make them strong and wide and this time dont put any metal inside them.

In the bleak mid winter, frosty wind makes you moan … and really not be bothered to go out riding. So how about planning ahead and thinking about this time next year, riding somewhere nice and warm all year round?

    Check this then:

A bike park on Tenerife! Easy Jet flights from £40 each way. Looks pretty good to me – check the video.

That place looks cool, there is something great about riding your bike when it is nice and warm. Me and Nicky are planning a trip to Morzine this summer should be great. Bring on the summer! :)
Just to let everyone know the next round of king of the hill will have to be planned soon. Got a great new section sorted, should be a lot more testing than the last one. So make sure everyone gets some winter practice in.

Only problem is the park only seems be open at weekends and bank holidays, I don’t know whether that just means theres no uplift the rest of the time?
