3rd; Pump Track Evening

It was a good session down at the Bamford Pump Track last night, with over 10 riders at various times. The track has dried out well and with a few recent modifications is now riding very smoothly.

Various people were attempting pump jumps and manuals, Nicky even attempting to combine the two, although conceded he’d probably end up on his ass doing the manual before he’d get it right.

Jack got some quite impressive air on his BMX, doing the double and the following drop to flat, as well as the doing the large pump jump. Irwin (pictured) had his first outing on his newly painted BMX with proper cranks and pedals, still no brake tho.

We got to see Shane’s new helmet cam gear although some technical issues prevented a live demo, but he did use his Sony camcorder for some static filming as we trained some loops, so we might see that when it finds its way of his camcorder.

After most people had gone it was just Shane, Ben, Ed and myself (Jeff), I took a few remote flash pics in the tight berm, which I was later pleased to successfully get through and over the next roller. Shane did the bank drop a couple of times. After Ed left we spent most of the time sat on our bikes on the bank just chilling and discussing riding, bike films and parts. When Irwin returned we got the lights out did some loops in the dark.

Shane Drop

With longer, warmer evenings coming we should hopefully be able to enjoy more evenings like this one.

Stella pictures jeff. Ive been down to the pt the last couple of days for a couple of hours digging and their is quite a lot of new stuff to be ridden. Kid’s please don’t hate me for digging a hole in the pump jump run out, see it as an oportunity, to do what I don’t know just don’t fill it in!

Thanks James, totally understand, they take some effort to build! Me and a few friends are out riding tomorrow but we haven’t as yet finalised where we are going but would you perhaps be free to show us if we are heading in your direction?

I wish i could, but i am at uni in Manchester. I live in Bamford when i am not busy with uni, but during term time i live in Manchester. I finish uni in two weeks so i can show you where it is then if that is alright?. What bikes do you and your mates ride, i might be able to recommend you a decent route if you fancy a proper ride.

Im riding a cove stiffee fr at the moment but Im in much need of sum heftier rims as my rear is a bit on the wobbly side after hitting the downhills at Wharncliffe! I think the plan is to go over roach clough from castleton road then onto Cracken Edge and head to my friend’s jump track in New Mills via Hayfield (I think he’s planning to get us all digging while we are revved up after the ride!)I went through a stage where I was out greenlaning at weekends so pretty familier with the tracks on the site, Hag Tor s great fun! Couple of weeks sounds good to me, il be finishing at Sheff Hallam similar time.

We tend to go out on rides in groups anyway so your are welcome to meet up with us and go for a ride. We tend to be interested in more the downhills but we do normally attempt to put some sort of route together for a day ride. I will make sure we put a post up before the next ride so make sure you check back.
