The bridleway's descent starts a short distance after Ashton Clough, at around 362m. The first half is fairly straight and gently sloping before it enters the woods and then curves round to the west and the trees open out a bit as it goes into a 2m wide gully with quite a few rocks.
The first section is quite flat with a slight slope but quickly the track drops away. The track then turned left as you enter a dark section of forest. There is a very short flat section before the gate. Then a long straight rocky section, then final tight right hand turn before stopping for a gate and the road.
